A mountain ridgeline at sunset

CTO / enterprise architecture / commerce / AI

Hey. I’m
Aaron.

I’m a CTO and enterprise architect.
I work on commerce, AI, and the systems teams have to own.

The mountains, home.

Public work

Talks, writing, and work in public.

What I actually do

I get called when the technology is complicated, the answer is unclear, or both.

I started by viewing source, changing things, and trying again. Since then I’ve been a developer, architect, practice builder, founder and CEO, and now CTO at Studio Science. I still spend a lot of the work asking the same question: what is actually happening here?

Developer → architect → founder/CEO → CTO.

Then / now

I learned by making things.

Me, a computer, and absolutely no idea where this would go.

Still trying to figure out how it works.

Applied AI

I use AI.
Then I check the work.

Getting to a working idea faster is useful. Knowing what you have is still your job.

Après Studio is where I test that with real commerce work. What did the model get right? Where did I step in? Could another team understand and operate the result?

Field Notes

Things I learned the hard way.

Architecture, commerce, AI, old web stories, and a few things I may be wrong about.

When I’m not
working.

I live in the mountains and get outside whenever I can.
The interwebs will still be here when I get back.
